Locals call it “The Vineyard,” and once you’ve been on island, you may not want to leave. The sunsets are stunning, the beaches pristine and the handmade wooden sailboats hold a long-standing special place in history on this magical island off of The Cape. If you can drag yourself away from the mesmerizing maritime history, you'll find that the brightly painted gingerbread cottages, lighthouses at sunset, and magical Flying Horses of America’s first carousel will give you a more than fair shot at the vacation of a lifetime. The celebrity sightings might have you thinking it’s all glitz and glam, but the low-key towns of Vineyard Haven and Menemsha, along with the must-have local fudge and scrumptious lobster, offer a casual vacation vibe to visitors. Sail away with us - everyone deserves a slice of a Vineyard vacation.
Phoenix is a 41-foot Classic Islander sailboat. She is a narrow beam vessel with sleek lines. The ever-popular Bob Johnson-designed Islanders, later bought and renamed Island Packets, are known for being well-built, sea-kindly and fast. They are considered by many to be the ideal coastal cruiser.
Phoenix offers two raised stern seats and two comfortable bench seats in the cockpit, as well as plenty of deck space seating. For a more adventurous ride, relax near the mast and feel the rush of the wind and waves as our vessel slides through the water.
Sail away for a few hours or an afternoon. Kick back with a cold drink and work on your tan or take the helm and try riding the wind yourself. Either way, you'll enjoy one of the best days on the island.
Don’t miss the opportunity to sail aboard Phoenix. She is a classic yacht and she has truly been resurrected from the ashes and restored by her current Captain!
Captain Wendy is a fun-loving Captain with an infectious passion for sailing and being on the water. She has a great sense of humor and loves to spin a great story! Although she's happy to respect your privacy and desire for a quiet sail, she loves to talk about her sailing journey and world-wide travel, or debate the merits of monohull versus catamaran sailing.
After a storied start to sailing on the Texas Gulf Coast, Captain Wendy sailed her way to Martha's Vineyard in 2017 and has since sailed all over the world. She's enjoyed the waters of the California coast, the US East Coast from Florida to Massachusetts, the US & British Virgin Islands, Antigua, Puerto Rico and its smaller islands, Cuba, the Grenadines, and Society Islands in and around Tahiti. She's most proud her incredibly challenging and rewarding sails in the Tasman & Coral Seas and thru the 'Roaring 40's!"
When not on a charter, Captain Wendy enjoys beaches, sunsets, kayaking, snorkeling, and music. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Marketing Communications and is a member and former Board of Directors officer for the National Women's Sailing Association. She enjoys using her skills and knowledge to help women advance in the sport of sailing.
All of our crew are experts in customer service and have been trained by Captain Wendy to flawlessly handle the art of harnessing the wind to make S/V Phoenix perform at her best. Captain Wendy loves teaching and mentoring others. Sometimes she mentors other ladies to bring more women into a traditionally male-dominated industry; sometimes she is giving "wanna-be" sailors a chance to learn, and sometimes she is mentoring others who are working towards Captain credentials. No matter who is onboard, the focus is always on stellar customer service and providing you with the best possible sailing experience.
